Core Drilling done properly
Core drilling cuts a precise round hole with a diamond core bit, leaving a smooth bore and no cracking around it. It's the right method for service penetrations through slabs and walls in new and existing buildings.
We drill vertically, horizontally and on an angle, from floor level or overhead. Water is collected at the bit so ceilings and finished floors below stay dry. Before we drill a suspended or post-tensioned slab we scan to locate tendons and reinforcement.

How the job runs
Scan
We scan with ground-penetrating radar to find rebar, post-tension cables and conduits before anything is cut.
Mark and protect
Cut lines are agreed and marked. Floors, walls and finishes nearby are covered and water suppression is set up.
Cut
Diamond saws and core drills cut to the line, with water and slurry captured as we go.
Remove and clean up
Sections are lifted out, waste goes to certified recycling or disposal, and the area is left clean for the next trade.
Core Drilling questions
Can you core through a post-tensioned slab?
Only after scanning. We locate the tendons with GPR and position the hole clear of them, or tell you if the location needs to move.
Will water leak through to the floor below?
We use water collection at the bit and protect the area below when we core suspended slabs.
Do you core for plumbers and electricians?
Yes. A large part of our work is coring for trades on renovations and new builds.
